Our Course Focus

Welcome to Year 9 and 10 Math - 2023. The primary focus of each course is to support the students with their classwork, ensuring that they have all the necessary tools and skills, before moving on to challenge them with work beyond their year group. Our courses are designed to be fun, yet challenging - but most importantly, to inspire confidence.

Having Difficulty?

It is imperative parents/students make contact in the event of any concerns. Communication is key to ensure that the students needs are being catered for.

Classroom Tools

It is expected that you will attend each lesson with a 1J5 exercise book, a calculator, ruler, pens and/or pencils.

A computer or tablet is also recommended (but not essential) - A proportion of the learning will take place utilising a variety of online resources. Phones should NOT be visible in the classroom as these often cause necessary distraction.

Calculators

Calculators are often used at this level. Please ensure that you come to each session with one. Recommended Calculators for junior classes are either the Casio FX82AU Plus ii2 or FX9750gii/iii  (Note: The FX9750gii/iii is strongly advised for students taking maths in Year 12, and is required for the 13MWS and 13MWS Courses at Year 13)

Do's and Don'ts

  • No phones visible

  • No earbuds

  • Do put your hand up if you have a question or need help.

  • Do keep all handouts provided to you in your file/folder.

  • Do bring a computer/tablet if possible.

Learning Styles

We all learn in different ways. What works for one person may not work for another. To cater for these 'differences' each topic will be broken up into a series of compulsory sections. The idea is for you to take ownership of your learning and to challenge yourself where possible. There will always be work for you to complete or a project to start. If you need more challenging work then please see me or look through this website.
